YouTube Surpasses Disney as World’s Largest Media Company
YouTube has officially dethroned Disney to become the world's largest media company by revenue, generating $62.3 billion in 2025 compared to Disney's $60.9 billion. The platform's growth, now valued between $500 billion and $560 billion as a standalone entity, underscores its dominance in the digital content space.
Nearly a third of YouTube's revenue stems from subscriptions, including YouTube TV, Premium, and NFL Sunday Ticket. Despite a slight slowdown in growth from 19% in 2024 to 14% in 2025, YouTube remains 50% larger than Netflix, its closest competitor in the media landscape.
MoffettNathanson has rated Alphabet, YouTube's parent company, a Buy with a $350 price target, highlighting the platform's transformative impact since its $1.65 billion acquisition by Google in 2006.
